Should I take this course???

I know you are wondering if this class is a good class to take. I know you also want to know if it’s hard, easy, fun, or boring. Well, that’s where I come in. I am here to give you reasons why you should or shouldn’t take this course.

To be honest, the first email I received from this professor was the course description and what we would be doing during the semester. When saw that email, I was totally ready to drop this course. I didn’t though, and I am happy with that decision.

This is not an easy course. Professor Arrington doesn’t give away A’s, you have to earn it. If you hate a challenge then this course isn’t for you. But keep in mind that college wasn’t designed to be easy. If you are a slacker, then don’t take this course, because I can tell you from now that you will fail.  When it comes to this course there is no room for slacking, only room for improvement.

Professor Arrington is an amazing professor, but she demands a lot from you. Taking this course will definitely improve your writing skills. As long as you show up for class and write an argument not a report, you will get an A.

Professor Arrington is always available if you need her for extra help. If at some point during the semester you are lost and you don’t know what you are doing, I recommend that you go to her office hours. This course requires you to stay focused, so just take advantage of her office hours.

This is a great professor, so I would advise you to take this course. It will definitely improve your writing skills. Other English courses are easier, but they really don’t challenge your mind like this course does. So, from someone who knows what it’s like to be in Professor Arrington’s class, I am here to tell you that you should take this course. It will be very useful to you in the future.

Update on my Adventure

I know you have been wondering how my adventure went. Well to be honest, I have yet to complete my adventure. I plan on completing it this coming Saturday, October 21 though.

Being a Procrastinator - I am big on procrastinating. Procrastination is like my best friend. Every time I plan to do my adventure, something came up, and I had to put my adventure off.  I’m doing it the 21^st for sure though. I was actually supposed to complete my adventure on the 15^th of October, but everyone else who was supposed to participate was busy for some reason.

Planning this adventure was hard. I thought it would be easy at first, but after putting everything together, I realized that it was a very hard task.

Along the way, as I thought about my adventure more, I realized that it would be a great way to get in touch with nature, as well as to see aside of my peers that I failed to see on a regular day.

Changes I want to make ‑ I think about this adventure daily and how I can make it a better one. I think I want to do it in the daytime now, instead of in the night-time. I am considering this because, not everyone who I wanted to come with me can make it in the night-time. I have no doubt in my mind that this adventure will be a great one, whether it’s done in the daytime or night-time. We have never gone hiking before, so it will still be adventurous.

I am looking forward to completing this adventure on Saturday with my peers. I still plan on videotaping it, and taking photos.

CAN I SAY FUN, FUN, FUN ….OOHH HE!! YES I CAN

Well, I plan to go on a social adventure. A social adventure is something that you and your friends will go on together. It is sometimes more interesting to go on a social adventure.  It can be very risky, because you are going to want to do crazy things to impress your friends, or you are going to try to do something better. A social adventure consists of only three important components:

v  It should be competitive; it makes it way more fun

v  It should be physically challenging

v  It should be risky, way out of your box

Preparation and planning

ü  Athletic gear

ü  We need to call and get our entrance ticket

ü  We need to make sure that our ride is ready (gas in the car)

ü  We all have to make sure all our house chores are done for that day

ü  We have to complete any due assignments before we leave out

ü  Making sure we have sufficient funds to get our clothes

ü  Making sure we don’t eat about 4 – 5 before we leave out

ü  We have to carry a lot of water

We are planning on hiking up Stone Mountain in the night time. We are going to the top and back down.

How will I document it???
My friends are very extra, so we will videotape this adventure and take pictures.

Dunn's River Falls

It all depends on who you are and what you have done before to consider something adventurous. Not everyone have the same definition of what an adventure is. So, in this post, I will give my definition of an adventure plus talk about an adventure that I have been on, plus who will consider this an adventure and who won’t.

Adventure is defined in The Random House Dictionary as, an undertaking involving risk or excitement. I personally agree with this definition of adventure, but I also believe that it is a remarkable experience. An adventure should be something that challenges you. It should take you out of your comfort zone. Everyone is not going to like the adventure that they take, but at the end of the day, that’s what makes it a great adventure. You may not like it at the beginning, but you will probably like it once you have completed it.

Not everyone will agree with my definition of adventure, because everyone has their own personal views on what is considered adventurous. I’ve been to numerous places that I would consider an adventure, but I will only talk about one in this post.

A lot of people are not familiar with Dunn’s River Falls. So, for everyone who isn’t familiar with it, it is located in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. Dunn’s River consists of a lot of rocks. So, you can already picture how risky such a place could be. If you slip and fall, you could hurt yourself pretty badly.

I consider Dunn’s River to be an adventure for me because, it is risky and it took me way out of my comfort zone.  I walk a lot, but before that day, I have never climbed up rocks before while water is consistently flowing.

The hardest part of climbing up these rocks is failure. Everyone who starts this journey would love to make it to the top, but it is very easy to quit. This is mainly because of how dangerous climbing up these wet rocks can get, plus it is very challenging.

Not everyone would consider this an adventure, mainly because it’s probably not risky enough for them or maybe because they have done something similar.  Others would consider this a great adventure because of the level of difficultly. Plus they would want to know what’s at the top of all these rocks.

If someone is use to climbing rocks with little water present they would not consider this adventurous, even though there is more water climbing up the rocks of Dunn’s River Falls. But, someone who has never climbed up rocks with water present would consider this an adventure.

So, this brings me back to my point when I said that it all depends on who you are, because one person might consider this pretty adventurous while someone else may not.
